the b's. THE binkie and blankie. ohhh, the necessary evils...the addiction...the need (for all parties involved). what to do, what to do. well, there is no questioning what to do with the blankie. i will never take that away. unless she wants to take it to school, then it's a definitely not. but she can sleep with it her whole life for all i care. good thing she has 5 and she has no preference to any of them. in fact, she's very good about throwing one in the dirty laundry when i tell her to. like when it's drug around the entire church building, including nursery (gross). or around the restaurant and pretty much EVERYWHERE. Again, really, truly, thank goodness she has five!
but oh the binkie. she is getting too old. i don't really like her talking with a mouth full of binkie and i don't know if i'm ready to make the commitment of yanking one of her comforts and lifelines away. and i have all sorts of excuses for not doing it yet, going on a trip, coming back and moving, don't want to cause too much havoc and change for the poor girl, right!? i think that cold turkey would kill us all. considering cutting them away, that's what evil was done to me. pretty sure i'm scarred for life. jk. yeah, i don't remember it all...and neither will she. but she loves it so. and the b's really are a combo. she can't have one without the other, as you can see.
wait, my mom is coming in october. maybe make her do it? that and potty training. GREAT idea, right mom!? love ya! ;)

Okay I know every child is totally different, but Claire was crazy about her paci too. She still is... I suppose. But Chris kept getting mad about it and we were going to Texas and I didn't want her to have it in her mouth the whole time we were there. Anyway, one morning, without even planning or thinking about it, I just said we were going to leave it in her crib, and from now on she could only have it when she was sleeping and in her car seat. She cried for ten minutes. And that was it. Seriously, completely painless. So I still let her have it at bedtime and naptime, and when we are in the car, but she throws it out of her mouth as soon as I park, and as soon as she wakes up. It works for us for now. I'm really not in a rush to take it away because I can't imagine how unfair it would look to her when our new baby comes and he has one. Congratulations, by the way! I woke Chris up from his Sunday nap to tell him the you were pregnant... I'm sure he appreciated it :)
The Binkie could always get lost. We have a few things that conveniently weren't around. Ada was a bit older, but I confiscated her blanket and she's only asked for it a couple times since. Tillie on the other hand will NEVER go away... I think she will be Ada's Pup.
Ohhh I dread it. Noah has already started "talking" from behind his pacey... I don't want to think about taking it away. However... before that happens, I must take the boob away! Yes, you heard it.. my child is 16 months old and STILL nurses. I would dare to say that he is more addicted to that than anything. Only at night. I have all of those excuses as you do.. but I do plan to break that once we move into our home and get into a comfortable routine. I wish Noah had a blanky! I love that!! Oh and .. what? YOU ARE PREGNANT? Did you post that on here and I miss it? Congrats.
so here is how we got rid of the paci for maggie - we went to gran and papas when she was just under two years old (she was also talking from behind the paci) and when we came home and began unpacking, we realized that her paci's were "lost". We might have left them at grans - we might find them as we continued to unpack - maybe they were in the car! We casually told her it was no big deal, that we would eventually find them. after a few days of "looking" for them, she was cool to be without them!
I'm RIGHT with you. We have finally only let her have it for bedtime and nap but I want her to get rid if it. I have a list of excuses too but deep down I know she is too old. I did the whole binkie fairy thing for M and it worked like a charm. With N I may have to actually cut it! I know They the binkie fairy will NOT work with this girl. Good luck! Haha
