Eight Months Old

Eight months old, where has the time gone? You were born to an extremely happy and excited mommy and daddy only to find out a month later your sweet daddy had colon cancer. Needless to say, not in the plans. You have so far watched your daddy go through surgery and 11 chemo treatments (with one left!!), and alot in between. You have been the bright spot through this trial in our lives. I don't know what we would have done without you. You are such a sweet little baby and we love you more than you will ever know.

Right now you are loving to eat food (it took a while to accomplish that) and drink water out of a cup. You really enjoy yogurt and any fruit, and your hands start pumping and waving when you want more. However, you think it's so funny to sputter and spit it out for fun. Watch out if you are in the splash zone! You find it fun to shake your head no, though you have no idea you are saying no. You love to smile, but it's very rare when we get you to laugh, so it's always a treat to hear your cute, little giggle. You HATE to cuddle (but for some reason you needed to at 2:30 this AM). No matter how hard we try to get you to cuddle, your head always pops up and you push out and arch your little back. You are so curious now of everything that goes on. I have mixed emotions about this trait of yours. When I'm busy with work, I will say it's a good thing, because then I'd feel really bad when I didn't have time. But dang it, sometimes I do have time and do want to cuddle :)

If I'm around, you want to know where I am and what I'm doing. But when I'm not around, you get along with Daddy just fine. You get to go to work with Daddy and hear compliments from all the people that come through of how beautiful you are. You also love your dog, Sammi. When we are trying to feed you, if Sammi is in the room, you can't take your eyes off of her. Sammi is very sweet to you, you can pull on her hair, but she never even moves, much less snaps at you.

You are a very good sleeper in your bed, and though it's becoming difficult, you still get swaddled. We are not sure what we are going to do when we can't get you wrapped anymore, because you LOVE to scratch at your eyeballs when you are tired. However, you most definitely are not sleeping through the night. Mommy REALLY wishes you would :) You also are really into our digital picture frame. If it is in your sight, you do not like being distracted from viewing. In fact, you have recently started squiting at it like you can't see, it is so funny and cute.

You are not crawling yet, but you want to, (which mommy if perfectly fine with) and no teeth yet (again, definitely ok). However, you have figured out the rolling thing the last couple of days, YIKES, no turning back now! You like your books, and we like to read them to you. You do the cutest head tilt sometimes when you are looking at something or someone. You also love to rub your feet on someone or something and like to prop them up in the stroller or shopping cart. You have the most beautiful, big, blue eyes. Surprisingly they have stayed blue, maybe it will last. I'm so jealous. You love bath time, and mommy usually uses a bath to keep you content for a while longer so you don't go to bed too early. You like your binkie and can put it in by yourself now. I know it's a habit we will have to break later, but it's cute to watch you figure it out by yourself for now. Sleep is a must for you, therefore a morning, afternoon and evening nap is required. Two to three hours of being awake, and you're ready to go down, the schedule is nice.

So you are pretty much content as long as you are not tired or hungry, thanks for being such an easy going baby. We have a couple of nick names we like to call you too. Don't worry, I'm sure they won't all stick past being a toddler: Boo Boo, Brecky, Brecky-love & B. We love you Brecken and can't wait to continue to watch you learn and grow.

Messing with Sammi

happy girl
I want to sooo bad!
This picture does not do her little squinty eyes, scrunchy face justice.
